Hey Writers!
Yesterday, Cohort 9: Foundations started with a nourishing and connective Opening Ceremony. It was great seeing so many familiar faces, and a bunch of new ones too!
One thing we do during the ceremony is make a pledge to any commitments, intentions, and possibilities we have for the month. It’s a simple, yet powerful act to write and express them to the whole group.
Here’s what I shared:
It’s always inspiring to read through everyone’s pledges. They range quite a bit across the spectrum, from more complex and ambitious than mine, to something as simple as just showing up to a weekly Writing Circle session and expressing a piece of writing by the end of the Cohort.
You can do this too, even if you’re not in the Cohort this month. Give yourself some spaciousness, tap into what’s feeling alive for you right now, and then journal for five minutes on one or both of these prompts:
How do you want to feel at the end of the month? Imagine it’s the last day of June, what’s taken place for you in that time? What does it feel like?
What commitments do you want to make to your writing practice this month?
If you’re up for it, share your personal pledge in the comments.
And if you’re looking for a place to regularly show up to your writing practice, you can join one of our free Public Writing Circles.
