Every time we announce something new, like Cohort 9: Foundations (which starts next week! 👀), someone asks me to describe what Foster is like. But it’s hard to describe a vibe. The best way to get it is to experience it. That’s why I love hosting one of our free Public Writing Circles each week.

Public Writing Circles are how we follow the age-old writing advice of “show, don’t tell.” Instead of telling you to practice writing from a grounded, embodied place, we show you how. Over the course of 90 minutes, we help you drop into what feels most alive in the present moment and write from that place. After a dedicated period of focused writing, we circle back and share our experience, perhaps even reading something we’ve written.

Foster member Tobi Ogunnaike exemplifies the spirit of consistently showing up to our Writing Circle practice. He recently published the first piece from his new ‘written album’ buttahbased and it was featured in the latest Substack Reads newsletter. Congrats, Tobi!

Public Writing Circles are also an excellent way to get a feel for the Foster vibes and to see if they’re a place you’d like to hang out and go deeper into your writing practice in a regular members-only Writing Circle, or even in an upcoming Cohort.
