You just had to be there

Hi Writers!

Have you ever had an amazing experience and then you shared it with a friend and you find yourself struggling to explain how great it was? You stumble and fumble around and then inevitably say, “You just had to be there.”

For those of you who have been a part of a Foster Writing Circle in the past, you may have found them hard to explain to someone.

At first, it sounds too simple: we all log into a Zoom meeting and write together for an hour and a half. It sounds like something anyone can do, and yet there is a presence, a space that's created that helps us write from a deeper, more authentic place. It’s that last part that’s difficult to explain to someone and have them truly get it.

It turns out that the best way for someone to understand is to simply invite them to a Writing Circle so they can experience it for themselves.

"Hey I know you wanted to write, but it’s been hard to make time to do it. Let's go to one of these free Writing Circles and get some writing done."

Then it's not up to you to explain what Foster is. They can try it out and experience it for themselves.

Our Public Writing Circles are the easiest (and free!) way to experience the Foster vibe and see if it's something you'd want to be a part of. We have themed writing circles around poetry, fiction, or freewriting, and also offer our Signature Writing Circle that we do with Foster members.
