Hey Writers,
I’m
, one of the Stewards at Foster. I’m excited to kick off this new Fosterverse Weekly endeavor here on CoAuthored. Here’s more about what we’re up to:
One of the core beliefs we have at Foster is that showing up and writing consistently matters most.
There’s plenty of advice online about how to write the perfect essay, to build an audience, to write a book, etc. Much of it is either convoluted or overly simplistic. But what always works, and sometimes brings unexpected benefits, is committing to writing as a consistent, devotional, and dedicated practice. We’ve never met anyone who committed to a writing practice over years and regretted it.
So we’re going to practice showing up consistently ourselves with the intention of sending a Fosterverse Weekly edition every Tuesday. In future installments of this newsletter, you can expect updates on all things Foster, links to the best writing coming out of the community, super special offers, and some tidbits on the writing life.
By the way, you can practice with us too! The best way to start is by joining one of our upcoming Public Writing Circles. These are free 90-minute facilitated sessions where we spend the first 15-20 minutes getting settled into the space, 50-60 minutes writing quietly, and the last 15-20 minutes sharing and checking out.
I hope to practice with you soon!

Well, in my experience, showing up to writing circles meant writing for at least an hour a week. Now, six months later, I published a piece on my substack today and scheduled a regular newsletter for tomorrow, and have an idea for a larger project that I know I have support to tackle over the next few months, sooo… for me, good things. Good things happen when I keep showing up. Maybe not immediately, but a noticeable change over time, sure. ✨🥳
