here. I’m that friendly glowing orb you see in the image above.I have gathered you here today to make a sincere ask. We are one week out from the deadline to apply to Foster Season 4, and we need your help to find the right people to accompany us on this mind-and-heart-expanding adventure. Each Foster Season is four weeks of guided facilitation, workshops, and peer coaching that take us deep into the transformative, life-affirming power of expressing ourselves truthfully in writing. And much of the magic comes from the incredible people who show up for it.
If it’s not obvious, Seasons are VERY MUCH for some people. And, well, not so much for others. If you’ve joined us for a Season, you know. But if you haven’t yet, we figured we’d be very clear who should apply.
It’s Friday, so we’re gonna start by being spicy and say here is who we DO NOT want:
Anyone writing solely for the clicks
Soulless careerists just looking to pad their blog with "impressive" "content"
Culture Warriors who vilify and tear others down with their writing
Unrepentant writers of broetry and/or mindless hustle content
People who treat writing as solely a means to an end, and only do it for transactional reasons
Assholes (unless they’re the lovable kind who might be a little rough around the edges but whose hearts are in the right place; for them we’ll make an exception)
What we ARE looking for is brave, curious, REAL humans who are:
Ready and willing to dive deeply into the topics and questions that underpin their lives
Burning to say something beautiful and true that can come only from them
Excited to meet others who are tired of the pablum and bullshit that makes up much of the writing on the internet, and who are working to make it more human around here.
They probably fall into one or more of the following categories:
Want to push themselves to publish their truest, most courageous work
Feel trapped, stuck, or uninspired in writing (or life!) and are ready to break through
Have something to say but are scared or intimidated or simply don’t know where to start
Are tired of feeling like they’re shouting into the void and want to experience writing alongside a supportive community of like-minded folks
Recognize that as the world around us becomes increasingly complex, chaotic, and confounding, writing remains one of the most reliable tools we have to root ourselves into more truthful, nourishing lives
Resonate with the idea that humanity is badly in need of new myths, and that more of us releasing our stories into the wilds of culture is how we bring them to life
