Hey Writers!
One thing that has become apparent from personally running a weekly Writing Circle for over a year is that people show up to write more consistently as they start to feel more connected to me and the other writers in the group.
This feels distinct from the concept of accountability. At Foster, we do ask people to pick a time they can make most weeks. But it’s not like I’m scolding them if they don’t show up, like that one mean teacher we all had in school at some point.
Yet, when they do show up regularly, they’re more likely to keep showing up over the long run. And then we all get more writing done. The results sound similar to accountability, but the energetics are way different. There’s something magical about its simplicity.
There are a bunch of free public Writing Circles coming up, some of which recur weekly, where you can get a taste for this yourself.
We’d love to see you there!
