I started doing morning pages during covid and have kept up with it ever since. It’s one of the best habits I’ve ever developed. So much of this resonates, thanks for writing!
A beautiful piece, Alicia. You’re way more consistent than I with writing daily, but even a few times a week keeps me straight! Don’t be spreading it around though that one fountain pen is enough!
Thanks for the kind words Cams. Are you a fountain pen collector? My husband did give me a flat nib one a few years ago that I used for time but the ink kept getting stuck so I switched back to the Waterman. I don’t love fountain pens for all writing but do love it for morning pages bc the ink just keeps flowing about as fast as my brain.
Yes, I do enjoy a fountain pen. I've been writing and publishing over on my Substack for a couple of years now, maybe longer? I write two pages with a fountain pen and scan it to my Substack. It began as a means of taking personal inventory in a 12-step way, as that's how I got sober back in 2005. I suppose it's a lead-by-example kind of exercise, but I acknowledge that I'm often in 'oversharing' territory rather than vulnerability. I sometimes use the paywall feature when I wander too far into oversharing. The fountain pens and ink collection make it super fun as I'm a huge lover of pens and ink. I did have a Waterman once and returned it. I kinda regret that now as I did quite like it. My first was a Parker that my mum bought me when I was just about to start uni in 1993. It got lost somewhere along the line, which is a shame as my mum's no longer around.
Brave and beautiful. Write on, Alicia!
Thanks Tom!
